God Sees

“O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.” - Psalm 139:1-2

God didn’t have His eyes closed when you were hurting. He was not resting, and He did not turn His back. It may feel like He did, but the older we get, the more we learn that our feelings are not to be trusted.

Sometimes, we must stand on what we know to be true instead of what we feel. God’s eyes are on you, no matter where you are or what is happening.

He does not watch you with a big stick to smack you on the head when you make a mistake. His eyes are on you because He loves you deeply.

Perhaps you had a parent who was cruel or unkind. Don’t judge God by the actions of broken people. We are all broken people; some act out their pain more than others, but God sees even that. He saw you when you were a child, crying in the corner, and He sees you now as an adult, crying silently in your soul. He cares more than you can even imagine. There is nowhere you can hide from Him.

When you step out of bed in the morning, He is there. When you are anxious, He is aware and offers peace. At the midnight hour, when sleep cannot be found and you are pacing the floor with unresolved conflict or fear of tomorrow, He is pacing with you, with His hand outstretched, waiting for you to hold on.

Do it. Grab onto Him, and don’t let go. He has known you from before you were a seed in the womb.

He formed you. He covered your sin with the blood of His son, and He has a mighty plan for you.

Hold onto the God who sees, and no matter what may come, don’t let go.

Pray & Believe

God, I grab onto You with both hands. When I don’t feel You, remind me that feelings are flaky and to believe what I know is true, even when my feelings don’t align. Lord, You know my thoughts; sometimes, my prayers have no words. Often, I don’t know what to say, but You know anyway. You know my heart and understand what I can’t put into words. Remind me daily that You are walking with me, pacing with me, holding out Your hand. At the midnight hour, when fear sets in, touch my heart and bring peace. Thank you. Amen.
