The Depths of His Affection
Nothing in our past has the power to separate us from the love of God.
We cannot earn it, nor do we deserve it. His love is not for sale; it cannot be bought or earned, and it cannot be lost. In this world, we have no understanding of such love because we have not experienced it. None of us have.
No matter what kind of family you were raised in, this love was not present because only the King of Kings can promise—and carry out—this depth of affection.
Think of it like this: if you are married, there is no possible way you can be with your spouse at all times.
Each of you does things in a day that cause you to have to be apart—be separated.
If you have children, it’s the same. They must go to school, and you are not allowed in the classroom all day, every day, so you cannot be ever-present with your child. There are times in the day when they will be separated from you. This does not mean you don’t love them; you are simply not with them.
If something happens and you are needed, you must leave what you are doing and go to them. If you are with one child and another calls you, you say, “I’ll be right back,” and leave that one for a brief time.
Many things will separate us from those we love at one time or another. But God is never separated from us. He is with us always. Nothing, not death, angels, or powers of any kind, can separate us from the Master.
When we need Him, He is there. When we are afraid, He is there. What a comfort to know we can never be separated from Him.
Pray & Believe
Lord, I do not have the ability as a human to understand this kind of love, but I do know that I am thankful for it. Open my understanding so I can know it and not doubt that You are with me every moment and that I am never out of Your sight. Lord, You are so good to me, and I do not deserve it.
Thank You for Your love for me, not because of me but because of You. Thank you that Your love is without measure or conditions. Thank you that I do not earn it; therefore I cannot lose it. Remind me when I am afraid, overwhelmed, or anxious that You are with me, and I am forever safe in the shadow of Your wings. Amen.
