Video: When God Says No
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
I thought I would be a professional baseball player. When I was a kid, I lived and breathed all things baseball.
But in 8th grade, I didn’t make it on the team. I felt mortified, humiliated and really humbled. I was upset at God!
But that year was when I began to play the guitar, to write songs.. and I realized that a door had closed to open up something different and better for me. God definitely had a different and better plan that I had for my life. So I’m grateful for His no at the time (and that right now I’m not a professional baseball player). God’s ‘no’ led to a greater ‘yes’ that I could have never dreamed up at the time.
What does that mean in your life? What no’s have you gotten from God that have led you.. or might be leading you .. to a greater yes?
The Bible says in Proverbs to “lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.”
It doesn’t mean the path will always make sense, but it will be straight. You can trust him with your plans. Sometimes His ‘yes’ is way better than what you could say ‘yes’ to on your own. Amen?
