God of Second Chances
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23
Who can understand such a thing as a continual, steadfast love? What does that mean, and how can we earn something phenomenally life-impacting?
Maybe the home you were raised in wasn’t filled with all-inclusive, unconditional love. Perhaps you felt you needed to perform, attain certain grades, or be the best on the sports team in order to be loved.
So many of us were lied to by the enemy of our soul and not necessarily by our families that we were not loveable. Many of us carry that lie through life, but it’s time to put that lie to rest.
If you have been one of those who, for one reason or another, grew up thinking you were not loved or had to earn the love of those around you, I have good news! That belief is misguided and an outright lie. You are loveable and worthy of receiving love. You get a second chance now and can move ahead knowing this great life-changing truth.
God Himself loves you with an everlasting love. His love for you is steadfast, all-consuming, never-ending, unearned, and undeserved.
Before you knew Him, He knew and loved you.
People don’t intentionally hurt our hearts, but people are frail. We are sinners, broken, often passing down what was passed down to us through the generations because that’s what humans do. But God is not human. His love for you is perfect. Believe it is for you because it is.
Receive the second chance He is offering.
PRAY & BELIEVE
Father, I have sometimes believed that I am not worthy of love and that love is something to be earned. In my life, I have learned the wrong concept of what love really is, and it has caused me to make some bad choices that have left me with undesired consequences. Would You, Father, teach me the truth about love? Plant in my heart the truth that I don’t need to earn Your love or work to keep it. You will never remove it from me; I cannot lose it. Heal up the cracks in my heart caused by those I loved who were supposed to love me. Help me remember they were broken, and it wasn’t my fault. Confirm in my heart that I am loveable, accepted, and worthy of love. Amen.
